_Nausicaa_ and _Akira_. I frequently oscillate between which one is my favorite. I saw someone reading Nausicaa on the plane last week and I haven’t stopped thinking about the movie since then, so it’s probably my fave right now. ---

Genuinely surprised that only one person so far has mentioned Akira. In 1994 I was 11 years old and I started Secondary School here in Britain. A friend of mine gave me his copy to borrow on VHS without any way of explanation and just said “I think you’ll like this”. I have to admit I didn’t somepletely understand what was going on but I watched it endlessly and it had a massive impact on my pre=pubescent mind. I watched it again for the first time in well over a decade a couple of years back and it still holds up as a timeless classic ---
