Just an opinion but if I had to rank easiest to hardest: 1a 5a 4a 3a 2a (4a and 3a are possibly interchangeable) ---

I’ve tried 1A, 2A, 4A, and 5A. 4A is the easiest to me because it’s less complex than the other styles. ---

Isn’t there a variant of 4A in which the string is a large loop rather than a string unconnected at the two ends? ---

I think that depends on how the question is perceived. “Easiest to learn the basics?” Or “Easiest to be semi-competitive?” My earlier answer assumed the former. ---

From easiest to hardest in learning the basics, here is my list. I have learned the absolute basics of each. Haven’t put in enough time to do the bottom 3 super consistently. 1A 4A 5A 3A 2A ---

I have tried and can do the basics of all the styles except for 2a(I can do looping tricks with one hand but I haven’t practiced enough to do more than a few loops with both) From my experience I would say from easiest to hardest 1a 4a 5a 3a 2a Outside of 2a I think 4a is my worst style, but I’ve also practiced it the least by far. From what I’ve learned though it seems that 4a is easier to pick up despite it being offstring due to it only having one factor(a single yoyo) to really focus on like with 1a. 3a is the most frustrating to learn but the most rewarding and satisfying to do. 2a is the hardest but the mindless repetition and lack of tangles makes it less frustrating to learn than 3a and maybe even 4a and 5a. 4a is annoying to learn(not as much as 3a though) because messing up means chasing after a yoyo. It’s absolutely crazy to me that 2a used to be the norm, and that it used to be the norm with crappy looping yoyos. That shiz is so hard.
