Except I will say, for less experienced players, heavier yoyos hurt more when you accidentally hit yourself…I know from experience*.
But, then again, one of the most popular and recommended plastic beginner-intermediate yoyos is 68g, which is the YYF Replay. So, there has been some major previously success with heavier throws.
*Got smacked in the head by a flyaway Replay.

Anyone else feel like the st Elmo is the best version of this particular TP shape? I like it better than the hinemosu, palpitation, colony, and mustang.

Start the Riot is the best bimetal yyr out there. I prefer it to the Sigtyr, Draupnir, and Valkyrie. It’s like a draupnir with an extra weight ring added.

Okay imma just say that yes, in my opinion the DNA is completely overdone. My two cents is that the whole tik tok: “cAN yOu dO tHE DNa on a PeN???” Thing is overdone and really annoying. I know all of those creators are just trying to get views, but come on. These are people that are respectable yoyoers and I know they’re better than that. Yoyojoe1’s video on TikTok videos was really good, go watch it : )
But yeah, I just wish yoyoers on social media were popular for different, hard tricks that actually require skill and practice. But that’s just my opinion : )

Number 2 on the list of overdone things: complaining about DNA
Sure… I can see how it can be annoying, but there’s no doubt it brings people/interest into the hobby. When I’m out and about throwing, it’s the trick I get asked to do the most. It’s actually surprising how many kids have gone up to me and requested it - it’s like the new “walk the dog.” And it’s cool to see people light up when you do it. IMO, it’s awesome that in 2023 there’s a yoyo trick that is mainstream enough to generate interest from random people. Maybe it inspires them to go by a yoyo. The yoyoers on social media are just doing this in video form, grabbing attention and potentially bringing people into the hobby. It’s obviously working, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it.

Yeah, I’m in total agreement that the DNA is a super cool trick. But I mean, it’s kinda like the new walk the dog. It’s aimed at non-yoyoers bc it looks so cool and complicated

Sure it’s cool, but that wasn’t my point though - it’s that it interests people and brings them into the hobby. That’s why those TikTokers/“yoyo influencers” are doing it. (And to sell their yoyos - which I have no problems with, if I could get that bread with yoyoing I would too lmao)

We’re not the audience for TikTok yoyo content. Very little of that is going to, nor is meant to, appeal to experienced yoyoers. Those guys know we don’t want to see a million iterations of the DNA trick. It’s not for us. Asking TikTok to provide a constant stream of high-quality, innovative content is like asking McDonald’s to serve 3-star Michelin-rated cuisine. You’re simply looking in the wrong place for that.

I feel the same way about the Invaders Must Die. Just a fabulous yo-yo.
While I agree that Start The Riot is powerful; it seemed to give up a lot of speed for that extra weight-ring.
