I got a 2a pair and made the mistake of getting the same color on both so I can’t half swap to track the flipovers and make sure I’m doing things right.

I solved this with electrical tape on the rims. Not elegant, but it works for learning.

Yep, blue masking tape here. Sadly my vision isn’t great so I had to use a big piece. I’ve got tan on the other side to balance it in case it mattered.

After trying a minimalist approach, I just wrapped the whole outer diameter and ran a black X over the shell.

I dunno if I’m in the minority or majority with this, but I don’t like the look of half swapped/different color pairs for any multi yoyo style. It’s probably a pretty even split of preferences tbh.
I never really had an issue telling when a flip doesn’t happen since you can just immediately feel it and see that the string isn’t on the right side of the yoyo.

Haha, I didn’t even think about the string not being on the right side after a non-flip.
Edit: I just noticed that when looping with a butterfly that it seemed to stay upright the entire time - and the string remains wound in the same orientation as when it was thrown. That’s why I was wondering if my looping was doing that as well.
I agree that the matching loopers look better. I think the ones I have were sold that way.

They’re great. The new Lio is a nice midsize that plays sort of like a Peak with bit more oomph. Krapfen feels like a Lio crossed with a Panorama - laid back but a bit zippier than a Pano. The hand feel of both the Lio and Krapfen is just awesome. The Blackbelt is pretty wild - closest comparison I can make is a YYR GOPA, but that doesn’t quite capture what it feels like to play with a 28mm wide bimetal. It’s very stable and capable of some speed if you’re precise.

When I was starting out the half swap was definitely helpful because I couldn’t really feel the difference. Now I just like it.
