Been going between these two mostly as of late.
The Yoyoempire Firespirit (bottom) is competing for my favourite hybrid. Really great yoyo. Plays much quieter than my other hybrids too but the binds can be a bit slippy relative to the Mensch and Surveil, my other top hybrids.
The Mowl Hybrid - H (top) is a fun plastic throw. It doesn’t really stand out much compared to my other plastics, much less my other yoyos generally. Even though I haven’t tried the original version, for what they are/what mowl was going for, I feel l’d like the original more.

Almost a really solid $6 mono. If the finish was just a little less bizarrely chalkboard like and the bearing seat didn’t have machining issues (small bit poke out into the bearing’s outer race which cause string vibe), it would be a decent yoyo.

Just tried on both of the butterflies I have at work and still can’t. Haven’t gotten the knack of keeping the string tension consistent for that first hop. It always returns right when I get it in the air.
I read @adamantiumpops say to get the loop unwound more than usual. I can almost do it on my BC Blackbird since that doesn’t respond as much as a butterfly, but I still need to work on it - a lot 🙂 .

one of the beautiful things about fixie is that string torsion can manage responsiveness, try loosening your tension quite a bit. i do that often when i want to do string tricks on fixie

@bheinz63 is right, loosen up the string just a bit, not too much or you’ll get the opposite effect. And before you do the first hop, shove your whole hand into the trapeze loop to try and get the string coming off of the yoyo as perpendicular to the string it is sitting on as you can. Then make sure you don’t let any part of your string slack. As soon as that starburst sees a wobbly string, it will catch.

Usually don’t do double or hype up new throw but Physix totally deserve it. After have good feeling from play after Pink one, I know I have to get a Blue one.
Gotta support Empathy more for their great products

I like to use a teensy bit of Portland bee balm on my axle loop. It gives me that extra bit of spin. I also couldn’t do kwijibo on fixie or even responsive for that matter, until I got a freehand one. Something about the freehand one made it so much easier and now I can do it on just about any yoyo even if it might take a little longer to figure out on some throws.
I think the first yo has more spin time than my butterfly’s. I haven’t actually tested them side by side but it sure feels that way

Tested out the new G2 case tonight. Probably not gonna actually throw every one but I am gonna try as i put them away.
