I, on the other hand, give the nudge of priority to what a yoyo looks like when it is spinning over what it looks like when it is not. I don’t display my yoyos–they are either in their cases or out for play–so what they look like when just sitting there is of somewhat less importance to me than what they look like while they are in play.
To my eyes, most splashes look kinda crappy when in motion; rather than blending into a nice solid hue, they produce this blur of incoherent color streaks that don’t look particularly good to me. I surrendered to the allure of splashes on only two occasions: my small MonkeyfingeR collection, and my pair of (extremely limited edition) YoyoRaven VTWOs. I certainly don’t regret either of those collections, but those ten yoyos have satisfied any latent craving I ever had for splashes.
(And for the record, I’m not a fan of fades or half swaps either, though I have seen rare examples of both that look pretty cool to me. One example being the dual blue fade 2sick Endgame that I have.)

I personally really like half-swaps depending on the yo and the colors. I really like my green/black & orange/green Deep States along with my red/green Rooster. There’s lots of half-swaps I think would look great with the Deep State (orange/black looks awesome, I also think a red/black and purple/black would be neat. Someday I might try to get a red/green one put together as well).
What I don’t like…is splashes and especially acid washes.
But I completely understand that everyone’s tastes are different.
Except for those who don’t like green. Those people are just wrong! (lol I’m only kidding! 😛)

i like clear solids, really clean like on the grail, moonlight banshee ss (wondered why this sold out last, it was the prettiest of all!), things like that… unique solids, love that purple life, pink hawk, burgundy pelican… raw and nickels… love swirls, and uniquely sparsely decorated with simple contrast - andromeda is a good example.
splashes and washes- this is where i care more about the actual throw, meaning if i want the throw, but not necessarily the colorway, i’ll pick the lesser of two weevils, lol.
monkeyfinger, while their style is amazing, the techniques they use to make their anno stick out over the others is sick… like sick sick sick. it’s not what i am into overall, but hot damn man, the work is seriously defined.
this all said, for the od rev1 drop there were countless colorways to choose. i chose man o’war… it is sick af. the pics online and here do not do the piece justice, it is the best of all selections by far though

The Rev 1 itself I am really digging. Personally, I like it a lot more than the Top Deck.
Edit: and wow, I think I should have nabbed a man o’ war. That’s nice looking.
