After 20 years of collecting, I finally got my first Anti-Yo. I had always been dreaming about it since I was a teenager. Now that I can afford one, they are often sold for money I canât justify. Finally found one at a reasonable price last week. In mint condition and complete with all the extras.
And no, Iâm not selling it. Please donât send me offer :joy:
Btw, does anyone know what the CD content is? I donât have a CD player.

Online archives (which are not a space you own) do not last forever. CDs, if properly stored and used, are permanent media; you own them, have them in your possession and you can pass them on to those who come after you.

1. An important part of proper archival is not putting all of your eggs in one basket. If you discover that the last copy of something was lost because the medium it was stored on failed in an unprecedented fashion without warning, then youâre out of luck.
2. _ **All** _ storage mediums fail. Organisations like Internet Archive have decades of experience with archival and there are already many pieces of media (including CDs) which are only preserved thanks to their ongoing work.
3. Disc rotâwhich affects CDs, DVDs, and BluRay discsâprogresses quickly. Initial symptoms of disc rot may be masked by the formatsâ built-in error-correction, so unless you are visually inspecting all of your discs individually on a regular basis, it is unlikely that you that would notice any issues before the disc is completely unreadable.
4. The lifespan of CDs depends on how they were made. Most burned discs have a very short lifespan; whereas pressed discs _ **can** _ last for a long time, but itâs not guaranteed. To maximise its lifespan, a CD must be stored in ideal conditions at all times: ~18°C, a relative humidity of ~40%, in the dark. Most people do not have the facilities to ensure these conditions at all times. Additionally, not all discs are created equal. A disc with a manufacturing defect may develop bronzing at any time regardless of its age.

Do you own that yo-yo? Archive and store that CD however you prefer.
Donât own it? Then why worry about how othersâthe only ones with the right to listen to the content of that mediumâshould manage its use and preservation?
As for the broader point: to this day, it is still possible to play 12-inch records and 78sâshellac discs pressed in the early 20th centuryâusing the âtechnology of that era.â By the time a professionally recorded CD, if handled and stored correctly, suffers from disc rot, your great-grandchildren will likely have passed away as well.

vinyl is my preferred media method, and unless you donât know how to handle and clean it, and set-up your turntable correctly, it will last 100s of yearsâŚ. i heart analogue

Bufo is super powerful but doesnât play like a 70g yoyo, i would say it is pretty agile and have the capabilities of a 67g~ full external rim yoyo. Spins forever.
Noir troise is powerful yet super lightweight and really fly on the string. Feels like any bumps on the rim will reduce the spin alot though.
I am enjoying both even though they seem to be opposites of each other.

To be fair when i played with those two they didnt feel too heavy for me and both are surprisingly nimble and pleasant on the string. Ive been playing with my turning point alnilam a lot and that one feels heavy but enough to where you feel it on the string and is still really maneuverable and controllable

In theory at least, yes. Itâs definitely more durable than any digital drive or optical disc. The bottleneck is then that theyâre degraded by being played, so unfortunately that makes them unsuitable for preservation unless theyâre used as a backup thatâs only read from in the event of a catastrophic failure with other storage. Other than that, theyâre a bit bulky for how much data they hold; and the PVC that they are made out of is synthesised from a carcinogen (VCM).
Obviously the more analogue you go, the more inefficiency you introduce, potentially in return for some amount of increased long-term stability. The sweet-spot for archival is something like [LTO](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_Tape-Open), but itâs very expensive.
