I just used some p44 fat 12 to learn beef hook with. Not as fat as you would think but certainly a bit thicker than the alphaline i have been using. Pretty good thus far. Keeps torsion like a steel cable and whips with some serious inertia behind it. Only a few hours of playtime into one string so far and very little wear, but the torsion resistance is waning a bit. Overall would recommend.

Thank you for that response. If it’s thicker that Alphaline then I may want to try the standard-normal thickness since I tend to lean towards thinner string these days. Alphaline is a good thickness but certainly wouldn’t want any thicker tbh.
Are you using the poly/nylon string? I see poly/rayon string (which I haven’t heard of before) available on their site as well. Oh, now that I see the shipping costs, I may have to wait until YYE is carrying it lol.

I ordered both fat and standard during the 4.4 sale. Wanted to cover all bases I was told standard would be most similar to alphaline

Wish I knew, I got them from @Xymantix with a couple of yoyos. The bag they were in simply said p44 fat 12. All orange threads if that helps. Otherwise Xymantix might know more.

I’ve tried the Project 44 slim, standard, fat 12, fat 2.0, and mega. My favorites these days are the slim and standard, as I’ve been in the mood for slimmer strings ever since I started learning the DNA (they’re less likely to bind unexpectedly on me during the laceration). I personally think that they’re great strings, but I’ve only tried the ones that are a nylon/polyester blend. They’re different than some of the other nylon blends that I’ve tried in the past, and I really like the slimmer versions.

If your favorite thickness type is regular/normal we suggest try our standard type.
We also offer three types of textures from Soft (Softer torsion), Mid (Medium Torsion in between Soft & Coarse), and Coarse (Tighter Torsion) for your preference and you may use this info if you want a string that has a similar feel from your current usage.

You may also contact andre or the folks in yye staff via contact email, it helps to email your local retailers to ask them as it brings them the awareness customers are interested in our brand.
