How come all of these have a sort of sheen to them. Do they come finished with something or just sanded to a very high grit?

I agree with what @adamantiumpops said above. The weight distribution is concentrated in the center, which makes varials and flips easier. Also the pull-start hub is a very cool feature.
I’ve only played with the fixed blank so far, which I thought worked quite well out of the box.
The walnut one was moderately smooth for a wood yoyo out of the box. The grain pattern was similar on both sides and the grain direction was mirrored, which helps the smoothness. I need to tune my oak one more to get it to my liking. It’s two halves are less similar and one half has some sapwood which I think throws off the balance a tiny bit.
@Upmanyu theres definitely a nice finish on these. Maybe a thin poly or similar varnish. You can still feel the grain, but it feels different than an oil/wax finish.

The Kasm plays great! I really like it for 0a/Modern Responsive. The walls are high (great for stalls), but the inner recess/groove prevents snagging you sometimes get with high walls. And the B bearing feels like a great fit. I give it a hardy recommendation :+1:. Maybe my favorite ~$25 modern responsive. It plays as good as yo-yos two or three times that price.

First mail day in awhile! But worth holding off for something unique and great! What a treat, the response is great. I really really like it with the D bearing. Super consistent and reliable with stalls and snaps when I want it to and sleeps when I want it. It’s perfect for me, Its the only wooden throw that hits all the marks. But it does vibe a lot. The only unfortunate downside of the one I got
