Rain City Skills Sorry Grade mystery boxes came in, though I’m not sure all of these are actually Sorry Grade.

My Legato started with the string it came with, YYE bulk poly normal I think (is that right, @the_general ?), but in my hands that was a little thin/slippy so I’m going to go to one step fatter to Yoyogarden, July or similar “normal” which is my usual. If that ends up slippy, then I move on to something labeled fat, though Kitty FC fat seems to be about the same as a lot of other “normal” weight strings once it breaks in.

I asked about what string they come with when I got the Mini Star (recent run) from him because I really liked the string and that’s what he told me. My memory is that it was great on the Mini Star. It’s not way off on the Legato just a tiny bit too thin for me. Just happened to pick it up this morning when I saw it sitting on the table with the string unwound. After throwing it around for a bit I realized that was my way of marking it as “needs a new string.”

I felt the opposite way after getting a 100 pack of Kitty FC fat. It was too slippy in everything. A few months later I was reaching for it more often as gained more experience. Now it’s about the same thickness as my “go to” strings, which are all just bulk “normal” weight strings.

Yeah, the FC feels thinner to me, so you might like it. After listening to the Kill Your Yoyo Polo Garbkamol interview, I really wanted to try his string, but I think I have almost 500 strings now, so I think I’m good for a while. 😬

I’d be set for maybe a whole year or more if I had 500 strings hahahah. I have about 40 more to go from this bulk then I’m gonna actually do a little research to see what suits me best. I bought a 10 pack of MonkeyfingeR vines awhile back and I really liked those

When I first got my Cruiser, it had very slippy binds, and not even BadWolfeCo thick strings would help. I had to replace the pads, and then all my normal thickness strings produced nice, snappy binds. The lesson here, at least for me, is that before reaching for a thicker string, try replacing the pads first. I find that the pads have a much greater impact on bind feel than the string.

This is facts. Team flowable silicone all the way! You just get the best of everything with it I swear, and you don’t necessarily need a yo-yo brands product/compound, a clear tube from your local hardware store (forgot the brand that’s best I’ll look though) will do you just fine.
Update: Permatex is the brand I use if I don’t have any Monkey Snot! Also sorry about this convo, got a little off topic in the wrong thread lol

Lio showed up today. Havent played with it enough to have many opinions but blown away by the color, the quality, the finish. Ilyy doesnt miss. I dont own a smoother yoyo than this one.
