“The Dark Forest” is peak of the series imo, definitely one of the most thought-provoking sci-fi novels I’ve read in a while. Unfortunately the last book kind of just fell flat for me. Characterization was never the series’ strongest point, more the interesting concepts and worldbuilding, but the final book leaned so hard into the worldbuilding and conceptual stuff that it almost felt more like reading a history textbook than a novel by the end. I still haven’t watched the Netflix series yet but I heard it was a decent adaption actually.

Here’s an update of what I’ve been reading. Some of the stuff in my previous post got shoved to the back burner. I started juggling some new ones and finished a couple as well.

I went to a huge Barnes and Noble on a visit to Chicago last weekend. My wife was ecstatic, she has been all about Romantasy books, ACOTAR got her hooked, I read it, I see why, good stuff, not for kids though.
She stopped giving me a hard time about yoyos since this is all her in one year time lol, it’s really cool having a small library though and it makes her so so happy.
As far as me, I picked up an Orthodox Study Bible, they don’t have those down here in the Protestant south, I quite enjoy reading commentary from people that lived from 100-1000AD that were martyred with joy on their face, rather than people flying Jets and profiteering and taking advantage of people (end rant.) Wife is Atheist so my two books aren’t allowed on her shelves of smut lol.

I’m still reading Clan of the Cave Bear. Most of my “reading” time is taken up by studying and reading text books. I’m currently reading about sustainability in the hospitality industry. The class itself is the worst set up I’ve ever had the misfortune to be placed in, but the concepts are interesting.

I’m currently trying to study the basis of Psychoanalysis (the original works, by the first Psychoanalysts) and then I will move on to newer, more up-to-date works.
I am in no rush, since I am not currently interested in working in the field of Psychology.
