I’ve been going down the “modern responsive yoyos” rabbit hole recently. My trusty Luminator is taking a rest while I explore the Origen, Turbo Confusion & a RBC. All great yoyos. Concurrently, I’ve been re-reading the Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov.
On explaining the Visi-Sonor - a music type instrument (page 141):
“… it is indeed of an effect the most magical. It is of balance and response almost beyond hope in its delicacy and stability. On this, it would seem I could work wonders”.
I read that a few weeks ago & I swear it just would not let me rest until I shared it with … someone. As I have 0 people that would / might appreciate it, I turn it over to yall.
Btw - This quote also sums up the RBC very well! - imo. Thanks again MarkD & YYF for producing these magical spinning wonders!

My plan is to read this and then The Odyssey in time for the new Odyssey movie this summer. I’ve done the math and I need to read 20 pages a day from now until the opening day of July 17th. It’s a challenge/race just for fun.

Just wrapped up Little, Big by John Crowley. Wow. I’m still processing it all and I probably will be for a while.
Now on to Remains of The Day by Kazuo Ishiguro.

Yesssssss I read them last year and ho-ly it scratched so many itches for me. I find that his books are slow for the first quarter or so then they really pick up once he’s established everything, which in retrospect is what makes the last three quarters so moving. It’s worth it.
I went on and read the rest of his full books and one novela collection (The Wandering Earth) and I enjoyed them all in ways but nothing since has touched on the hard sci fi that I like in the way this series did.

Been making my way through the [Breakers series](http://edwardwrobertson.com/books/the-breakers-series/) by Edward W. Robertson. (I think I mentioned the previous series he wrote called the [Cycle of Arawn](http://edwardwrobertson.com/series/the-cycle-of-arawn/) (absolute must read if you like fantasy) )
The breakers series is about a series of events that lead to certain societal collapses and how the characters are surviving through the various types of situations. Like apocalypses, alien invasions, global pandemics and stuff. The 2nd book is freaking eerie because it was written in 2012 and it is SO close to what happened around covid, it’s insane. Some of the themes, the way people are acting and how it was handled.. Parts of it almost feel like he predicted it actually happening.
It’s a pretty cool series. I haven’t read all of them but I am slowly making my way through them.
I am also almost finishing Lena Dunham’s Fame Sick, it’s pretty decent so far.
Also about to finish book 7 of the Witcher series. Only 2 more to go before completing it. Finally!

It’s more what series right now I’m on book 23 of the R. A. Salvatore, Drizzt World series
I read a lot of it years ago, but with the latest edition of books I figured I should just restart it.

Back on this one… Tuberculosis in Europe, pre WW1. I wouldn’t recommend it. Long, dry and depressing. I took a break from it and read Murakami’s “The City and its Uncertain Walls.” I think it may be his best one since 1Q84.

I’m still stuck on it. For some reason I just can’t push myself to finish it. I liked Annihilation and Authority pretty well but Acceptance just hasn’t caught my attention the same way. Definitely will need to push through it so I can get onto Absolution to finish the whole series.

Just finished Mistborn Era 2, and started on the Dungeon Crawler Carl books. Holy crap I can’t put these things down, already on the third book and it’s such a fun read!

At the moment, just three books. Hey, I usually have about four going.
Doc Smith’s space opera “Skylark Three” and “Instruments of Amplification” by H. Peter Friedrichs. That last is about building working vacuum tubes and transistors.
Always around somewhere is Shepherd Hoodwin’s “Journey of Your Soul” which keeps me grounded. Grounding is good when working with electronics.
