Yeah, that’s been an essential supply that I have struggled to keep in stock during this stay-at-home period… Sadly, in the US it seems that German wheats are few and far between although there are more stouts to choose from. Just blows me away when I walk into the beer section and it’s at least 1/3 IPAs in the craft beer area.

These things play amazing. A flat (non centering) 10 ball bearing and incredible design. I’ve not taken up 5A May because of these. And that’s OK.

can you compare it to another bimetal yoyo? maybe the famous ones? kinda interested in this new surveillance but cant find any reviews, so maybe if you can give a more detailed one i would appreciate it. thank you!

so…
i figured something out yesterday.
i’ve been throwing the yo for quite a while, off and on for like 20 years or something. now, i’ve playing unresponsive 1A and some basic 5A pretty much since the beginning. i learned how to bind (obviously) early on… or I thought I did 🙂 .
I’ve been having trouble lately getting a good, consistent bind with strings like Airetic on wide gapped throws and certain response pads. Basically, i’d try to bind but the string would flop out and it wouldn’t catch. It was getting a bit frustrating. So, i thought I’d learn a new bind since I really only know the basic “under mount”(?) bind. while watching a video on binds, the guy said something and i realized I’ve been doing it “wrong” all this time. I wasn’t pinching the string with my non throw hand. 😐 All this time, ive been pulling up with my throw hand and basically just dropping the loop into the gap from my NTH. this has worked for me probably 80% of the time and I had no issues with “grippier” strings and response systems like flowable silicon. after realizing this, i practiced pinching the string with my NTH as I did the bind. wow. it really helps when you do it right. 🤪
i just thought this was funny. after all this time to learn that one of the most basic things we do, I was doing wrong.
never stop learning.
it’s ok to laugh at me, i laughed at myself quite a bit when i realized this. #epiphany.

I have been binding since 2018 and I never pinched. I sort of flip it onto the strip and abracadabra. Maybe with thinner and / or slippy strings the pinch is needed? I do have a lot of string I was given that I consider “slippy” - I try to avoid those strings but next time I feel I’m using a slippy string I’ll try the pinch.

This sounds like what I’ve been doing. But yeah, if you find the string bind is sloppy, give it a try. It does make a big difference, even with throws/ strings that bind well with no pinch. It seems to bind quicker and tighter.

i did a silicon recess on these. i like the black/white theme too.
what do you think of the black string? i hav a hard time seeing it but I like the way it looks. 🙂

Since I’m just learning the very basics of 5A right now, being able to see the counterweight is more important. The fact that black string is a bit harder to see isn’t much of an issue at the moment.
