My Duncan Raptor has been getting some throwing time ever since I got it as a gift for Christmas:
From my limited research, it was first released in 2010 and then was revamped sometime around 2017. It came with optional caps, and I’ve got some extra aluminum finger spin caps for later on when I learn how to do finger spins 🙃 Duncan’s last update to this model added a step near the bearing to improve binds. I don’t know what the original was like, but this one is pretty snappy. So it’s still an older yoyo, but with the combination of the smaller diameter (~53mm), silver colorway, and the ability to add caps I wanted to get one. I really like undersized yoyos, even if they’re occasionally a little more difficult to manage since I’m still pretty new. Thankfully YYE still has many of the older yoyos in stock!
This year I’m doing something different for my Christmas thank you notes. Instead of the typical hand-written note, this time I’m sending an email with a picture of the yoyo as well as a video of me doing some front style tricks with it. Many of my distant relatives don’t know much about yoyos, so I thought it would be a nice way of showing them a closeup of what their gift to me looks like as well as what I can do with it. Here’s a screenshot from my Raptor video in the middle of a boing-e-boing. I can tell that I need to invest in a dark background screen to hide my messy bookshelf:
Despite my limited abilities and repertoire, I’ve already gotten some pretty nice feedback from the videos. It’s taking me a lot longer this year to finish my thank you notes, but I’m getting a lot of extra practice time!

One Drop Rebirth since Friday. It took some getting used to with the narrow gap and took days to find the perfect string. I actually noticed a huge improvement in my plane keeping. It is a fantastic yoyo!

On a trip in NYC and these are the trusty bois I brought with me… Vulture, IQ, Free Solo, MCMO, Grail, Panorama, and Deep State. Also there’s a 420L but that was too big for the case.

Well, I’ve been launching the Woodboy for several days in a row … I’d say too many days 🙂
Every time I do a strong throw with this wooden machine I am afraid, many grams at high speed …
I have gotten used to the big man and now the Peon feels so light and graceful!
I really love these things: it’s just what I was expecting, wobbly wood and with personality;)

Printed the ExitT8z designed by @drewtetz. Very fun! Didn’t have the Ace Hardware wooden plugs so I went with a steel axle. 55g
