Dropped my Sonic wave while trying to pick out a knot, and now it’s super vibey? Maybe I should know this by now but it’s never happened to me before and everything looks fine so I just don’t know what to do. Sorry if this is a noob here question ---

Maybe one of your rings popped slightly out of place. If you feel around it for differences like a bulge you could take something softer that won’t mar the surface and use a hammer to lightly knock it back in. ---

Possible correction\> You meant to say, ‘The rings look perfectly fine’. Realize that ring displacement in an almost undetectable amount, can cause vibe issues. Deduction…… 1. Ring(s) displaced? 2. Yo-yo half or halves distorted? 3. Tweaked bearing? 4. Bent axle? First of all, how far did it drop? Common logic would dictate that you were probably working at waist height… So you drop the yo-yo approximately three no more than 4 feet unless you’re a giant? Secondly, what type of surface did you drop the yo-yo on? Hardwood floor… Carpeting… Asphalt… Concrete…? When a yo-yo hit the ground, did it just hit and stop or it bounce a little bit? Have you tried unscrewing yo yo-yo and then screwing it back together very snuggly and then rolling it across a tile countertop or a glass coffee table or something pretty much perfectly flat? Roll the yo-yo away from you like a little bowling ball and watch to see how it tracks …… Does it track away from you in a straight line? Or does it have a little hip-hop going on? Unless the yo-yo dropped 8 feet on a block of penitentiary steel, the chances of a tweaked bearing are very slim. The chances of a bent axle are almost slim, especially if it tracks straight when you roll it on the table. The chances of one or both of the actual halves getting distorted from the drop of a sonic wave, Are kind of slim. The most likely problem you’re dealing with is very slight ring displacement that is just not enough to be identified by just looking at it. So most likely that’s it… One of the rings move slightly and you just can’t see it. There are a few options you can choose from in attempting to correct the problem. I’m gonna get one of my sonic waves and deliberately try to displace one of the rings. And then get it back to its original placement. In the meantime, maybe one of the guys will have a brighter answer for you? ---

I agreed probably a shifted ring. Other possibilities include a bent axle, or now it resents you. ---

I’ve had YoYo’s that looked good but I did the ring realignment anyway cause they were severely viby and it solved the issue. I’m guessing it was only off by a hair. ---

There’s a tool or you can just push it rim down on a surface. I followed a video guide. I can’t remember which. ---

I would take a plastic or hard rubber puck like object that fits into the cups, take the yoyo apart and place it on a sturdy counter, then use your bodyweight to push down on the yoyo halves so that the puck pushes the rings back into place. ---

This is an issue that many may not understand, due to living in homes where the majority of the ground is carpet. Without fail, if i drop a yoyo from 4 feet or higher onto a tile floor it will gain a significant amount of vibe. This includes monometals, plastics, and bimetals. Though it may be a dislodged rim, it could also be some other irreversible issue that I do not quite understand. I would think it has something to do with the bearing seat, but I myself do not quite understand what has happened to those yoyos. Typically there is very little if any visual damage but you feel it immediately when the yoyo is thrown. ---

That usually works for yoyos with external rings.
