That is a fair point that I forgot to consider, but at one point they probably tried other styles. I am basing this off of My father who is one of those people. He owns one yoyo and refuses to touch anything else (especially if it is not a Duncan), but he did experiment with a few of my Duncan throws. I still will hold that experimentation with other styles of play and different throws makes you a better yoyoer (but that’s my unpopular yoyo opinion). ---

He’s obviously happy with his one yoyo. I really admire that a lot. Seriously. I wish I could feel the same. ---

Sometimes it looks like the yoyo is just a necessary annoying prop in advanced tricks and the experience would be more enjoyable for the thrower if it were just he or she with a string because, face it, the string sees a lot more action than the yoyo. ---

In terms of performance, I agree. But, I am going to take this to a new extreme. Nothing more than 150 is worth it. Even the difference between 150 and 100 is so small. Besides, these are hunks of metal spinning at high RPMs we throw at the ground so why spend all that extra money on small improvements. That being said, if you are a collector of cool [insert favorite word] yoyos, then you do you. If you want a Titanium trophy (not worth it, but pretty cool), go on with your bad self. If you want to spend 500 on a collectable item, go ahead. ---

Completely agree, I just did not want to cause a disturbance in the force that would rock some worlds. I think a yoyo is a toy and deserves to be played with. ---

this thread, as a whole, is not contributing any positivity, or any positive discourse to the yoyo community, qnd may have run its course.? being that it’s rife with misunderstandings, subtle innuendo and jabs at different parts of the community, it really serves as a place to air shaded ‘gripes’ under the guise of unpopular yoyo opinions… like this one. occasionally decent discussions arise. however, there appears to be an underlying negativity brought on, mainly by confusion on tone that could easily be avoided… ---

I understand what you’re saying but I think most of the time there’s good stuff here but you’re right - sometimes what people are saying is misunderstood because it’s just typed words that lose a lot without the benefit of hearing the person’s voice or being able to see their face. It’s my favorite thread but yeah, I understand what you’re saying. I may have fed into some of the nonsense here and there… ---

unfortunately, context is lost everywhere online, which i’m sure leads to more misunderstandings than necessary. and, when you’re asking people to discuss, essentially, something sarcastic - in a sarcastic and cynical culture - the responses you will receive will be on both sides of the fence, and will be interpreted in both ways… seriously or not. so, that was my unpopular opine for today ---

I wish more people made or added to the existing general yoyo threads with crazy yoyo stories like damage, yoyoing in public, mishaps, introducing someone to yoyos, funny stories, yoyo club stories, great yoyo memories, etc. the unpopular yoyo opinions thread is the only thread that stays unpredictable which I like. Maybe to cut out some of the drama we could try to discern what a person really means before firing off a reply because we may actually be agreeing but our choice of words makes it difficult to understand that. Some people are always in battle mode though. I like that there’s a thread where offbeat yoyo thoughts can be shared. ---
