I think that might be due to you being new. If you don’t understand why something is impressive it can’t be impressive. That’s why non yoyoers think Eli hops is more impressive than a crazy tech combo. ---

Watch more non-competition yoyo vids and “trick circle” stuff. A lot of people on here will agree that the high level competition vids are kind of boring (aside from a handful of creative routines perhaps). Id rather watch a good amateur on Instagram than most who place in nationals tbh. ---

I’d say you need to compete at least once to really appreciate competition play. The act of making freestyle teaches you a lot about the effort it takes to make a competition fs that scores well and explains why competitors do the tricks they do. I’d say watching 1a has been a lot more fun since my first comp. ---

I got some good ones. The yoyo community does not have to be so “kid friendly” as it’s been and should have outlets and events that can cater to not always having to be so PG. Current modern contest “meta” has killed a huge chunk of originality in 1A and competition 1A in general. Most companies are only willing to hype 1A and 1A players which is a big reason why the other X division styles have faded in interest. 2A is the coolest to watch style Americans don’t take up 2A as opposed to all the Asian countries having new 2a players all the time cause we’re too into instant gratification and being lazy. ---
