What qualifies as a “pro” or “con” can be subjective, so I’ll just list what I know about string types. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Fat:
\*Slightly better for whips and slacks.
\*Slightly better for getting tight binds.
\*Slightly increases responsiveness.
\*Tricks that put a lot of string wraps around the bearing are more likely to slow the Yo-Yo down or snag.

Slim:
\*Slightly worse for whips and slacks.
\*Slightly worse for getting tight binds.
\*Slightly decreases responsiveness.
\*Tricks that put a lot of string wraps around the bearing are less likely to slow the Yo-Yo down or snag.

Just think of regular string as a compromise between the other two.

Adding to the above, some are better for other divisions than others…

2A: More response? Fatter, not too fat though or you can’t play 2A properly. Less Response? Slim. Also, short string.

3A: Short Length + Normal or Fat String is most peoples’ preferences.

4A: Fatter string for tighter binds and what not with trick binds and regens, always be careful of snags though.

5A: Read what YoYoAce posted

I’m looking for some good string to use for my replay pro, I’ve been using yye string %100 polyester. But I’m looking for something better. Any recommendations are extremely helpful.

Mine works nicely on Kitty Fat and Ammo. Tight binds, etc etc.
