# Turbo Bumblebee Spin Time

Hey all!
I recently installed a new bearing, brass spacers, and brake pads on my turbo bumblebee and the response is excellent.
However, I only get a few seconds of spin before it runs out of steam. Is this normal after installing a new bearing, brass spacers, and brake pads? What should I do to get a longer spin time?

If your bearing is free, my guess is one of the sections of a brake pad is sticking out and scrubbing the string.

I think that is probably the issue. I cleaned out the old adhesive before replacing it and was able to press the pads down. I have a brand new OEM bumblebee string but replaced it with a generic white sting and it is working better. Spin time is around 7 seconds which is okay but I still think I have an issue with the pads.

7 seconds seems far too low for a ball bearing yoyo. Are you able to get longer sleep times on other yoyos?
Maybe you could post some images of the brake pad and bearing area of the yoyo?

normal yes if you want to loop with it, that may actually be too much sleep. a little play however tends to burn them back pretty quickly

It almost appears that the pads would be making contact with the bearing, hard to tell without seeing it installed. If thats the case, you could either snip the tips of the pads that touch the bearing or like Ben said, use it a bunch and wear down the pads a bit.

I think this is probably the issue. I would try cleaning the bearing in your solvent of choice (I use 99% iso alcohol, you can also use mineral spirits, zippo fluid etc.) and putting on a new drop of thick lube. I would try ruling out the bearing as the problem though before worrying about anything else.

Hi YomegaOmega, I just found my old bumblebee just like your display picture. Everything needs an overhaul change like bearings, spacer and break pads. For the life of me i do not have ruler at home. Would you be kind enough to link me the specific bearing size or link, spacer? i have found the breakpads.
