My lack of understanding probably protects me right now. I know what a breakaway is and now what a bind is. I just started to do the breakaway.
Isn’t that a trick to get into other tricks/combos?

I try get a clean sidewinder right now, but I never get it consitant and a lot of the times the last wrap of the string wraps around my finger and f\* up the landing.
You have some insights on that?

Hooks. Like…they’re super impressive don’t get me wrong. But in generaly they completely break up the flow of whatever routine anyone is doing.
Seeing Mir do a 5.0 or whatever on horizontal is absolutely crazy. But they tend to have to stop doing everything they were doing to do them. Which what I don’t like about them.
Also…I’m kind of bad at them.

That’s the first step to 100% of all side style (best style) tricks. (I say side style is best only because I don’t practice front style enough and, therefore, am awful at it :joy:)

I do not know enough tricks to say what one are displeasing to me.
If “ I. “ were to be say “ I disliked a trick “ in the past I now understand for me, I am projecting my inability and or difficulty to understand or perform a said disliked trick. This would not be one trick but a very long and impressive list of tricks “ I “ have not taken the time to learn or I have not yet become proficient at preforming but I do not dislike them.
I can say I do not enjoy watching tricks performed so fast I have absolutely no idea what trucks are being done… again a projection of my novice mess andlack of understanding of the need for speed… I mean I understand in competitive yo-yo and it is a timed event and all.

I have to say that I even get a giggle out of a mishap. When the Yo suddenly becomes an enraged mouse I captured on a neon leash after f\* something up. Thats usually gets me.

i think this is it for me. i don’t have tricks i hate. i have tricks that frustrate me because it’s harder but i like the challenge. i also see tricks I’m not interested in, but i don’t think i can say i hate a trick… yet

Or just throw front style and turn your body. Or just use forward pass instead of breakaway. lol.
There’s lots of ways around ever having to learn a breakaway, but, imo, one would be doing themselves a disservice by not just learning a breakaway. It’s really not that hard of a trick. If it were me, I would just watch Brandon Vu’s tutorial and commit to landing it consistently. It opens the gate to endless tricks.
