# trick list for contests

Hi, whenever I look up tutorials for new tricks to learn, Andre talks about a trick list for contests and how some tricks aren’t on the list anymore. Is there a part of contests where you have to do certain tricks, or are contests only freestyle where you can do anything?

There are 2 types of lists, compulsories and ladders.

For the ladder, there is a series of tricks that you have to go through. You get points for completing each trick, then the winner is the one who has the most points. Mistakes give you less points. If you make too many mistakes on a trick, you are out of the competition, but your points are still compared and you might win. For the compulsories, there is a list, and you have to do them to get into the 3 minute freestyle finals. You get points for completing the tricks. The people with the highest points are allowed to go into the 3 minute finals.
