Following on the “what are the essential elements that make this trick _this trick_” conversation: 1. I appreciate Spencer’s take where he’s like, “I’ve mellowed on how exact I think it is, honestly it’s awesome it’s endured and people have variations” 2. This is one of those tricks where you can kind of tell what tutorial people learned it from based on the those variations — the yotricks one doesn’t have the kamikaze string bounce, so folks like me who learned it from there just… don’t do it (I’m learning it now because I like the flow better). ---

Eh spencer was pretty chill abt that kinda stuff in their interview w doc pop. For the purpose of taw i personally think its cool if ppl just try any given trick and play yoyo. “Right” of “Wrong” is for skill addicts app but yeah idk i kind of agree but also like eh not really i dont wanna be a rules lawyer like if someone is doing zontals at 75 instead of 90 is it not zontal? I don’t know…no real answer to these questions anyways but yo arent you at pnwr? Go ask Spencer what they think abt this! Edit: also if we are going to do like a trick talk like this bc why not? Then I want to clarify that I mean unnecessary for the trick vs like hitting the wrong string off a magic drop like other tricks just wont work if you miss something but this skipping that bounce wont like ruin the trick completely like you can still “do” it if you know what I mean. My personal stance is that I wouldnt say the trick is “wrong” without that bounce thing, but I definitely like it and do think the trick looks cooler with it. Im walking my dog rn but then ill go dig through old sector y stuff and find the original vid its in one of the old uhhh … club videos i think like spinworks or uhhhh spin smt idk ---

Being fluid and “kendama-ing” with my body as i do the hops seemed to help. I took a break from this and worked on Chopsticks GT for a bit, came back to it today and it clicked after an about half an hour? ---
