Practice getting the string to your non-throwhand before you even try to get the hook. And as tedious as it is, practice just whipping the string, and then whip around twice in one pull. I hope it helps!

Keep your non throw hand slightly lower than your throw hand. Also your hands should be closer together than you might think.

Same, hook hurts my shoulder too. I must be doing something wrong.
