How do you do it? I just started fooling around with my Protostar and know the basic bind but that’s it. Obviously I threw a ufo with my DM2.

Just spin in clockwise to tighten it, and counterclockwise to loosen. There are a few videos, just look up “yoyo string tension” on YouTube and there should be a ton of videos.

If you know a UFO, basically you’ve got it.

I was hoping there was a trick to tighten the string where you could finish with a bind so you don’t have to wind it up by hand.

I’ll check out youtube.

There are a bunch.
Steve Brown has a good video somewhere that shows the one I use a lot.

But you can also just throw a sleeper and grab the string about a foot from the throw and then do a sidewinder type motion then bind.

That’s what I see most competitive throwers do.
