Hey everyone. Two new Emulsions for Pride month: Refract and Transit. Both are in the shop now through the end of June. I like releasing them in May so people can have them in time for Pride.
I want to say something briefly before I get to the strings.
I have family and people close to me who are queer and/or trans. I also have a few queer friends from right here on YYE who I’ve come to care about a lot over the years. These strings are for them, and for anyone in this hobby who might want a string that’s quietly theirs.
This community has always had more range than it sometimes gets credit for. I’m glad to be part of it.
Okay. The strings.

**Refract**
_Woolly Nylon / Trilobal Poly + rainbow metallic strand_
Woolly Nylon and Trilobal Poly base, so it’s soft enough to be comfortable but moves fast. The metallic strand is the thing. It doesn’t play any differently because of it. It just catches light in a way nothing else in the catalog does. Different angle, different color. That felt right for the name.
disposition: Normal // velocity: Brisk // shelf life: Enduring // gauge: True // feel: Slightly Course // length: 120cm`
**Transit**
_Rayon / Woolly Nylon + single Biolume polyester strand_
Rayon is a regenerated fiber. It starts as plant cellulose, gets broken down completely, and comes back as something new. I didn’t plan that when I started blending this one. I noticed it after. Soft Woolly Nylon base, so it plays forgiving and comfortable. And a single Biolume strand running through it. You won’t see it in normal light. But it’s there.

Both are limited. When June ends, they come down. No restock planned. Pride blends will be completely new next year.

Just placed my first order of strings and counterweights, super excited!
Sorry if this is not the place for this, but there was a little bit of a hiccup checking out, as it continued to send me in an error loop stating I needed to select options for a 5pk of Serum, despite the fact there was no 5pk of Serum in my cart… A few refreshes took care of it, but just FYI. Still geeked to try out the products!

Several Throw-Yo blends listed Woolly Nylon as a material. They have been running on Maxi-Lock Stretch Nylon for some time. The strings were not wrong. The labels were. This has been corrected.
While sourcing Woolly Nylon again, Berv threw both materials back to back. They are not the same. Woolly Nylon is softer. Meaningfully so.
The result is Emollient. Woolly Nylon 100%. Ultra soft. It is now the ceiling of the Comfort line. Serum remains. It is very soft. This is a distinction worth making.
The catalog reflects the current state of things. Read the data lines.

Pride is not a campaign. It is not a content opportunity. It is a month named after a riot started by people who were tired of being treated as problems to be managed.
The people who threw those bricks are the reason some of you can hold your partner’s hand in public without calculating the risk first. That is worth saying plainly.
Throw-Yo has two strings, mentioned by Berv above, in the Emulsion line this year:
Refract: Maxi-Lock Stretch Nylon and Trilobal Poly with a rainbow metallic strand wound through it. It plays as it looks. Limited. It goes away on July 1st.
Transit: Rayon and Woolly Nylon with a single Biolume strand. Quieter. Still there. Still lit. It also goes away on July 1st.
Also this week: Solvent is getting an Enby colorway. Yellow, white, purple, black. Spun Poly, standard Solvent spec, same string you already know. It goes up on Thursday.
**50% of profits from all three strings go to the Trevor Project through the end of June. The Trevor Project runs crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ young people. If you were going to buy string anyway, now it does something on the way out.**
The person who makes this string is queer. So is his family. This is not a disclosure. It is a fact about the hands that wind your string, the same way it is a fact that those hands are in Simsbury, Connecticut, and that they have been doing this for years.
Berv does not need your approval. He has my respect, which is rarer and harder to obtain.
Buy the string or don’t. The people these colors represent exist every day, regardless. Some of them are in this community. Some of them make your favorite throws. Some of them are throwing right now, in a parking lot somewhere, working on a trick nobody has named yet.
That is the whole point.
