# This is not Magic Drop

Been trying to master magic drop. For some reason, it really hurts my brain. Usually I don’t have issue translating right-handed videos to work for me left-handed, but this has been a struggle.
I finally managed to reject the string, but ended as a trapeze brother, landed on both strings. Very fun, will definitely add to my arsenal. But it’s not magic drop?
What did I do wrong? The string rejects off my th thumb back towards me. Is that correct? Did I reject the wrong string?

If I understand right, your rejection is correct but you’re landing on both strings coming from your non throw hand, when you should be landing only on the lower one. I pull the lower string on my non throw hand towards me a little with my ring finger before doing the rejection to make it easier

you did it right you just have to use your non throw hand to give the strings a little separation. magic drop can land on the front string or back and itll be dependent on the combo you’re doing

Ah, ok I’ll have to work on my nth to see if I can widen the gap, while still doing the rejection.
Earlier when I was playing around I found that I could quickly put my th index into that gap and transition to kamikaze (land on both strings) or the magic drop mount (land on back string) - but this is without any rejection at all.
Now I guess I have to blend both together to get the “official” trick, rejection included.

I used to struggle with this one - it would either land on the front or on the back. Apparently both are correct, depending on what you’re doing. I was learning Kamikaze so the landing on the front was not what I wanted…but realized that front was also correct when learning the classic trick “Classic Yuuki Concepts.” Learned that pointing the “finger gun” (throw hand) upward yields back string landing while pointing it downward yields landing on front string.
Learn Shockwave to really get this down as it’s a repeater and can nail that conistency.

Update: getting slightly better with this. most of the time I can land on the back string instead of both now.
Using a second finger on my nth seems to help widen the gap, but it also tends to torque the yoyo plane, so I’m working to make this consistent
