I agree it is a sandwhich. It is “meat” between 2 “Pieces”(Slightly connected) of bread.

Yes but a hotdog bun typically exists as a single piece of bread. Puzzling.

I work at Jimmy John’s and let me say this… this thread is sparking some PTSD. Post Traumatic Sandwich Disorder.
A sub sandwich, typically french loaf with a slice down the middle, is considered a sandwich, yet the bread is in one piece, but cut. Kind of like a Hot Dog.
The debate thickens.

Do your heart the favor and use butter and mayo. Better yet just dip the stick of butter in he mayo and eat it like ice cream.
For me its white bread with generous mayo, salt, pepper and next day cold meatloaf sliced thin.

Italian bread, pepperoni, mayo, salami, no good things, provolone,throw it in the oven.
Or a big john w/ cheese and no tomato if im lazy.

I’m usually not a sandwich fan, because I am not a fan of “bread” per se. I use bread to hold other things occasionally, but I don’t bother with it much otherwise. A few restaurants have some nice rolls come out before a meal…but usually I don’t bother. I like bread soft, not toasted, or toasted lightly. I never have anyone toast the bread for my sandwich. I rarely put cheese on a sandwich…not big on cheese unless it’s on pizza. But, when I do eat a sandwich, I have a few favorites:
1. Corned beef on a nice soft white roll, with lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo.
2. Tuna salad, on a plain bagel, with lettuce, tomato and onion.
3. A steak bomb (cooked onions, peppers, mushrooms), no cheese, with ketchup and mayo.
If there are chips on the side, usually plain, barbecue or onion & garlic flavored. I hung out with Fellavader one day last month, and he took me to this spot that had homemade chips…along with a corned beef sandwich. I snapped a pic…
Oh…and I always eat the pickle. 🙂

My all time favorite sandwich would actually be called a “grinder” we here in Western MA call our “subs” that. A good Italian roll with capicola, motadella, Genoa salami, lettuce, tomato, onions, halapeno, mayo and oil and vinigar… That are the best. More od a “calssic” Italian sandwich!!

I like:
Whole Wheat bread, Mustard, Ham (about 3 pieces depending on the size) some Swiss cheese. The orange cheese (I call it “orange” cheese :P) some lettuce tomato (salted) some more mustard, and some turkey.

And a bottle of Deer Park water.

Bob, that may be one of my all time favorites with the addition of swiss cheese. My favorite sandwich changes daily, but the other day i had grilled chicken, ham, caramelized onion, muenster cheese and homemade spicy mustard all hot and melty on a toasted hoagie roll.

I’m a Swiss man myself, imported no domestic, but never got into it on the ol’ meatloaf sandwich. Funny thing is I hate meatloaf for dinner or warm for that fact. Guess once it hits the fridge and coagulates it turns magical for me!
