Love this one(they all look great though, especially the color 💜) You don’t see enough H-shape fixies. I wonder if it could help to lock in Birds… that could be fun, and probably give way to some crazy Bird combos.

Well, I think I’m calling #4 a loss.
#4 was supposed to be an undercut. I also thought I’d try out a concentric circle response system just to make things interesting. 3 prints later (due to some issues and a failed print) and it’s completely unresponsive but also has no spin.

I think the response system is not good enough and I wasn’t designing an unresponsive so the weight is pretty well balanced which doesn’t encourage good spin time. I might revisit this one another time but for now I’m moving on to #5.
Edit: also the response system might have worked with a smaller gap but I designed the axle holes to my standard 2 cent gap (2.6mm, about the thickness of two stacked pennies).

The halves are going to get destroyed extracting the axle unfortunately 😬
I’m going to be making a few wood axle variants from this project with halves that were otherwise fine but had press fit issues on the axles.

That Reman #2 is a KILLER throw! Keith did an amazing job on this!
It’s bubbly, comfortable, a little weight to it, beautiful response, easy catch, great fixie play.
THIS is pretty much what I wished my Butterflies were like, haha!
I honestly love this design. Can’t wait to see some of the other stuff that comes out of this project.
Don’t sleep on these, it’s really quality stuff! 🙂

This may look alarmingly like #2. That’s because it was the original #2. The printed axle holes were too snug for the Butterfly axle, so this one has been fitted with a 1/4” wood dowel. I’ve named it “Remus” after #2’s owner, @Son-of-Morris called it a “Reman Butterfly” and I thought it was funny.

Holidays have slowed me down a little. #5 is code named “Big Butterfly.” I’ve left everything the same as my #0, but made the inner and outer diameter 3mm bigger, for a whopping 60mm total. Weights in at 60g. I did also flatten the face to make the #5 engraving. This is also my first foray into “fuzzy skin.” I don’t think I’m in love with that feature yet but I could see myself being happier with a little tuning.

Default fuzzy skin is often a little too bumpy for me and needs toned down. Especially in Prusa slicer. I think curas default is a little less aggressive.

#6 is the basic Butterfly shape with the outer wall printed as a spin top style cap. This one is printed face up, the same as my Pixies. This one is not available.

For this specific one I will be making a wood axle variant for sale out of halves that didn’t align with the metal axle. I just have to figure out how I’m going to clamp it 😁
