Library. Closes early on weekends in the summer so we are moving the club meet outdoors till September. Lynbrook Yo-Yo Club 3pm on the 2nd Saturday of the month at Greis Park, by the gazebo. Happy father’s day to all. Yesterday was so great. I’ve been hosting the club for over a year and we have a nice crew showing up now. 5 grownups throwing yoyos and talking about yoyos, history, and collections. And about 4 kids learning to throw. None of the regulars from the library came (i think due to the change in venue, i probably need to do better at getting the word out but it’s growing). In September we will be back in the library and I’m sure the 2 groups will join. I want to encourage anyone reading this to go for it and start a club at your library or any venue that won’t charge you a fee. With a little time people will start coming and you might find other skilled thrower. @blacklabel9567 found me on this thread, and it turns out he lives near my job so we actually hung out at his place for yoyo day during my lunch. One of the dad’s that came yesterday is a closet collector of some kind, he was able to ID my G2, Mowl, and MFD yoyos without help, usually people just ask if that’s a Duncan. He couldn’t land a trapeze last month, and hes now landing trapeze, brother and brother Slack combos. Throwing with 4 friends and a bunch of kids was exactly why i started this, that and to give back to the community or whatever positive vibe… but seriously if your tired of throwing solo in your basement or infront of your family, please go for it and start a club. Just a reminder, this Sat 3pm at Greis Park by the gazebo. Last month we had a great turn out, and i already heard back from a bunch of people that they will be there again on Sat. I’m expecting throwers in every age group and across a few skill levels. If you’re in long Island and want to throw with some friends come by. Was working on Ladder Escape so i thought I’d share. This weeks club was great! I’m hesitant to post videos because the club is a lot of kids and i don’t want to film other people’s kids for obvious reasons. We were outside, weather was great and some where throwing some 5A with gusto! For all you more mature throwers we also have 6 adult regulars that show up all of which are very into the yoyo hobby. Here is a combo i picked up from Jordan and @blacklabel9567 who comes regularly, Jordan taught me/ reminded me of Chris Tower and Jan showed me this cool underslack GT element that i just put together. Throwing with others IRL is so rewarding and fun. Heres the combo i picked up on Sat. Please join us 2nd Saturday of the month at 3pm. We are back in the library this month and until next June. Looking forward to a nice wind -less throwing space for the club. I was at the NY State comp this weekend at the Bklyn Children Museum. 2 members from the club joined me which was very cool. And i met a few forum members IRL. Not sure how everyone feels about AI graphics, AI in general. I’m not sure, how i feel in general about it, but i can’t deny how useful it is and how easy it is to use for a variety of things. It’s not going anywhere, like most technology we are not going backwards so my usual philosophy is to embrace it and try to use it in moderation. So I’ve been using it to make posters/ ads for the yoyo club due to my lack of artistic talent, photoshop skill, limited time and budget to pay someone to do it for me.
