My original axle came with a couple small chips in the threads already, so thanks for the heads up, I don’t have a replacement on hand unless I open my cherry Eh. And by cherry I mean unopened, though an Eh in Cherry would be pretty sweet.

update: used the jar opener on the axle and it came out no problem.

I’m sorry if you’ve been having trouble, Nolan, but this was just too funny. 😃
I’m just imagining gazing out the window in anticipation like our dog.
BTW, I did the same as SkinnyBNY. I just held the axle itself and twisted. It came out easily. I guess my caps/hubs aren’t twisted on that tightly.

Yeah, I stop cranking as soon as any resistance shows. It will loosen a bit with heavy play or a jolt like this, I just check the thread tension regularly when I check string tension.

That was my guess.
I tried to remove the caps from my EH but being too tight I stopped. I just wait until I am able to order a spare just in case.

Just ordered one of those last four, so stoked! I thought I missed out. What size would I order for a spare axel from tmbr, the 416 or the 516?

You can actually order a spare axle from YYE. I assume this is the correct size. Do the pull down menu and you will see WoodThread Axle.

I believe it comes with the 416. Plays great with that. The larger diameter will give you more response, but I don’t think you need it with this throw.

There is still one left in the store. I guess someone returned one…? I might buy a lottery ticket tomorrow. If I score $60 or more I’m buying that sucker and I’ll have a trifecta on my hands…at which point I’d set one up butterfly, one imperial and one pagoda so I never have to reconfigure mid-throw session to suit my mood.
