# Tell me about turning point

I can’t speak too much on Turning Point overall, but felt compelled to share the following…
Out of all the TP throws, I’ve only ever owned/thrown a [Rose Gunmetal Hinemosu](https://mavetrick.stores.jp/items/6425a84699e93c006755e386).
After something like 20 years in the hobby, you would think that I would likely have dozens of yoyo’s. Nope. I keep things TIGHT. If something feels out of place, doesn’t keep up with the rest of my collection, collects dust, etc… I am inclined to get rid of it. **I am NOT a collector** (used to be, haven’t been for years) **.** Therefore, my “collection” consists of 7 yoyo’s – and half of those I am probably going to get rid of (recent purchases–still test driving).
**All of this is to say:** the Hinemosu has survived many of the ban waves I’ve inflicted on my collection… it somehow still remains. Take what you want from this information, haha.

Well, I am actually considering purging the Hinemosu from my collection now that I’ve got it in my crosshairs… **😭😅**
I just took it out and gave it a spin alongside the other yoyo’s I’ve been tossing around pretty heavily lately. What strikes me about the Hinemosu compared with the others I have in rotation is:
- It’s considerably thinner than most yoyo’s being released now
- Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is immediately noticeable
- It feels flawlessly engineered – smooth as glass
- While it has pretty decent power/stability… in these categories, the Hinemosu is not keeping up with the other yoyo’s that I’m currently throwing
- **This is why I am now probably going to end up getting rid of it**
It’s still a very sexy yoyo. Especially if the specs speak to you.

Compared it with:
- Klondike - On the ropes, staying for now.. but it’s so reliable and good that I keep it around
- 2026 Kagerou - Competing with Adrenaline Rush for #1 spot
- Adrenaline Rush - in my personal #1 spot right now
- Wildification - Superb, but I like Adrenaline Rush more
- Super Scintilator Reverse - Lol, goofy as absolute hell yoyo, but makes me smile and giggle when I play with it because it’s so ridiculous but so fun to play with (will probably sell it after the novelty wears off, but I actually love it)

These are my 2 favorite brands in yo-yos! I have about 30 different TP yo-yos ranging from old to new. I currently own almost every Hydrangea throw made.
Hydrangea favorites are the quercus and magnolia for mono metal. The haworthia and lisianthus for steel. All are excellent performers! I usually prefer a heaftier throw with a lot of presence.
My favorite TP favorites for mono are the TP2, st tempest, and positron. Tp3 is also a fantastic choice for a more modern feel. The best bimetal they ever made was the Anubis. Also my favorite ti is the og sancti grail. These also have a lot of string presence and a bit of heft.
Also if you just want to try something new let me know! I can loan some stuff out.

I love these throws from TP. The hand feel is amazing and it’s such a fun experienced due to them being magnesium. They don’t feel (texture) like the weight they have behind them.
These are The Seraph, Derivative, and MGSKA.
The Seraph (gold rims) is an absolute beast. It spins like my dinosaurs in the wild and maybe harder. It’s a really crazy throw. The weight behind the Pom/pc? feel is awesome.
The Derivative has been a very a stable throw that I enjoy practicing new tricks and combos with.
The Mgska is a magnesium pocket organic which I absolutely adore. Cute, feels nice, stable throws.

Literally talking about all the brands I like or have been curious about today I guess lol.
I was big on TP and YYR, and always been curious about JT and Hydrangea(only one that cant be abbreviated XD), I think JT is niche, I’d say they’re more known for their 4a yoyos, can’t say much about em but seems they like to make comp focused Bi-metals and preformance focused Monos.
Hydrangea (also niche) definitely more known i think on the 5a side of things, I think (just from what I’ve tried) their bi-metals and monos are both preformance and comp friendly, I feel their yoyos probably suit styles like 3a and 5a better, but their still great for 1a I’m certain.

JT is no longer just a 4a oriented company. The vast majority of their recent releases are 1a/3a/5a.

Absolutely. Japan Technology made its name in 2009 with the Kamui (God, in the dialect of the island of Hokkaido), an off-string yo-yo with an exorbitant price compared to its competitors, due to the fact that instead of being made by injecting plastic into a mold, it was machined from two blocks of Delrin… Its technical and behavioral characteristics (the constant upward bounce upon contact with the ground and the relative speed of recovery, its great robustness due to the material used, and…) made it the absolute standard by which to compare itself.
A cheaper version (in injection-molded plastic, in fact) called the Ashiru Kamui (another God) followed. And then many other models.
Anyway yes, JT was a company specialized (the most specialized at the time) in off-string yo-yos and talking about them meant talking about 4A, then over time it also expanded to the production of yo-yos for other playing styles.

Thank you all for the info so far. I’ve found good prices on some secondhand turning point yoyos and they should start arriving in a week or so. Looking forward to experiencing them.
Will start shopping for JT next probably :wink:
