I never did care to know about how or the method. I just like to be entertained and illusions do just that.

He’s on a spinning platform along with the camera. While spinning, the force created causes the ring to slide off the pencil. This is assuming that camera angle and location actually do contribute to the illusion.
If the camera doesn’t add to the illusion, well then clearly he’s a demon.
