# Syria banned the yo-yo in 1933?

Am I the only person that did not know that Syria banned the yo-yo in 1933? Apparently it was blamed for a drought by the local religious authorities.

Amazingly, there was almost a yo-yo ban in California not too long ago.

Seems that when somebody would yo-yo outside an In N Out hamburger location, that the employees would get temporary Amnesia and forget to put cheese and pickles on the Double Doubles.

Fortunately, the Petition for the Ban only got 3 signatures out of 38 million citizens, so even though it was close, the Ban failed.

It paints an amusing picture of grown men sitting around discussing how the yo-yo is offending the Gods and causing a drought. It sounds like a scene from a Peter Sellers movie.
