What’s the benefit of pressing on rims that are of the same material? 7075 body with 7075 inboard rims… is just a 7075 body with more steps? Edit: I was very mistaken on the construction lol 🤡 ---

I doesn’t seem to me like a particularly similar yo-yo could be built with fewer steps. The closest I can imagine would be a one piece 7075 body with a Ti outer ring and Ti inner cap. Still three pieces and I don’t see any advantage in production simplicity or potential to tune the weight distribution. ---

Just don’t have rims is what I’m saying. They removed material and then added the same material back? I get the Ti caps, very cool, I’m just confused as to why they did the rims at all. I wonder if there is an air gap under them that factors into the weight distribution? I guess that would make sense. More like a “cover” of sorts than a weight ring ---

I guess I am not seeing how a similar yo-yo could be made without those outer 7075 pieces. It would either be a different size/shape with that part missing, or a different weight/weight distribution with another material in its place. ---

The rims are 7075 aluminum the body is 7075 aluminum. 7075 is removed, 7075 is added back on. My question is why? ---

Am I looking at its construction wrong? Are the Ti caps actually very large and the rims are pressed onto the caps? That silver ring is titanium, not the 7075? ---

I believe so. As far as I can tell, there is a inner 7075 piece. A Ti piece is pressed over that. Then a 7075 piece is pressed over the Ti piece. ---

Basically anything nasty done to the weight distribution has a chance of giving the yoyo a unique feel 🤓👆 ---

It may also largely be an aesthetic choice as well as something to make it unique even beyond the ti caps since the Aspen and I think a Good Life yo-yo have both released with wrap around full ti caps/rims. This thing looks so good. I must resist purchasing a new yo-yo rn though lol. Maybe I’ll see if I can trade one of my other yo-yos for one in a month or two… ---

By ‘meticulously crafted’ I assume that means ‘QA issues’ hence the Sympathetic price. Design looks killer but that’s way too expensive for a 7075-bodied yoyo. ---

Seems like a pretty competitive price for the construction. Most ti rimmed yo-yos released tend to retail at $180-$200 and those are usually 6061+ti rims (Hinemosu, Milder, Dino in the Wild, Graviton is 7068 at $185) while Aspen was $215 for 7068+ti caps. ---
