There are lots of fake Summits and 7 Summits available on taobao with fake SEs and Boxes too boot. Here are the colorways to be skeptical of, and yes they also have engravings. Buyers Beware
They even use the OD picture
I would wait to buy or trade Summits as there are talks of an anniversary release

Long ago the black one was apparently made in Czech Republic. We have one of those. It’s pretty good, but you can tell it’s not right. We’ve seen the ads on BaoBao but never seen one of the actual yoyos. Did anyone get one? And yes, a new run of Summits has a high likelihood of happening …

All sought after yoyo models have fake versions made for mercari, etc. That doesn’t mean every one of those models on the bst is fake. I got that summit that Moxie bought from a gentleman who runs the Facebook buy sell trade page and is as legit as they come. That one in particular is not a fake.

i would like to comment, as though things come from reliable sources, even good sources get hosed along the way.
i bought a sleipnir that had a solid pedigree. both previous owners were well known in the community. turns out it was fake, determined by a keen eye on these forums. i still have it.
i also got a b-grade life that wasn’t known to be b-grade until after i sold it to someone else, and they sold it. again, there was no reason to suspect it or who i got it from, they likely got hosed. none of is bothered to check the seat. i squared up the deal from my end, there were still some sour grapes though.
i stopped buying a-rt and some clyw yoyos once they started popping up on mercari… and we had the fake grail ordeal on here. i’ll mostly only buy yoyos that i know the full pedigree on, are generally not bootlegged (mini motu popped in my head), or are from the manufacturer direct. so, i don’t manage to get too many more yoyos.

I have a couple, bought them more out of curiosity. They’re practically identical. Play wise you can’t really tell the copies apart from the real ones. But the tolerance for the side effect is not as good, as the side effect gets stuck more often even with lubrication. The anodizing on the 7 Summits versions is off though. The real 7 Summits are shiny, these are matte. I’ll post some pics soon.

yes i have fake ones (gotta keep the community informed on what the fakes are!)
no you should not make more summits (summit 2 or other new pls)
how to tell them apart is the engraving on the fakes looks almost too good to be true
they also tend to have more hub damage due to tolerance issues
(blue summit is fake)
real:
also the finish is totally off
the fake seven summits are laughably bad though, anyone would instantly be able to tell even without a real one to compare to, as @yoyospirit said the finish is off completely on those and the anodization is just low quality (the fake one I have is raw so can’t really help here)

The black one you were selling I’m pretty confident is real. The engravings are different, and yours had purple pads where these all came with white pads. The side effects were different as well. The fake side effects have softer corners than the real side effects.
