# Strummol8 tops!

All of a sudden I feel I need a Blue top. (This “hobby” is getting expensive!)

Is there a known reliable way to convert a strommel8 bearing into a fixed tip (that isn’t permanent)?

Yes, a small plastic washer under the top washer on the tip. I cut a washer from an inner tube, but the S8s used to come with a soft plastic washer a tiny bit larger than the metal washer that you could add to the stack and gently lock down the tip.

I have had tops set up like that for over a year and then taken the plastic washer out and the bearings work like new. Just tighten only as much as it takes to keep the tip from spinning.
