# Stripped threads on Toru .99, can anyone fix?

So basically,
I received this toru .99 through BST with stripped threads.
I literally just found out after I tried carefully swapping the axle (from one half to the other) to try and clear some of the vibe. It worked but ever so briefly, it started to unscrew itself.
I’m just not going to touch it.
**Is there anyone here on the forums that can fix it?**
it is so unfortunate, this guy was in the mail for like a whole month before I finally got to use it.
this was my first actual high end yoyo and required me to save quite a bit to get so I’d like to test my luck here.

I would suggest some thread locker? You could a dab of blue loctite (or red, if you really don’t want it to ever come out again) on the axle and thread it into the bad half carefully. It sets in 10 min but takes 24hrs to fully cure, which I would do to get best results.
If threads are completely gone now, you may consider 2 part epoxy to permanently mount the axle.
Thread repair inserts have been brought up before but that seems unlikely to yield satisfactory results imo, you would need to be pretty precise with a drill. Axle threads are 4x.7mm
Also, shame on the seller for not disclosing damaged threads!

It depends on how bad the threads are. If they are completely toast then it might be a need to drill and increase the size if the axle
If there’s some material left there might be the possibility to re thread the yoyo.
Regardless sadly there might be some vibe with either process.
I’ve definitely done it but I’m my gear is limited and my results usually a bit vibey. I know @pyrotechnic has tried their hand at this a few times and they nod YoYo’s with a nice lathe setup and should yield better results than I.
There are a few other folks in the community but I don’t know how much better or worse they have been at the final results

I would try to save the thread locker and epoxy as a last resort but yes those are options if there’s not enough material to work with and it’s only stripped in the one side.

Hey we’re able to fix it most likely.
We’d probably use loctite(and a new axle) as people have suggested. Have done that with high rate of success.
There’s a very small chance retapping would be needed.
Pretty much though any failure to the center of a yoyo can make it no longer vibe free from there after no matter how good the repair. Especially not ever knowing if it was actually smooth before.

this guy re-tapped my CLYW Borealis a couple years back, it’s a sentimental yoyo for me so I’d 100% trust him with any other stripped yoyo
