please can you help, is there any common size for a dibase axel that i can find in any hardware store or here. thanks

Take it to the hardware store and see what fits. Don’t force it.  
Are you sure the threads aren’t stripped as well?

May be a metric - not sure.

i gotten the screw at home depot but when i got home it didnt screw in so can i use locktite on it or teflon tape

No, loctite and teflon tape won’t fix the problem. You bought the wrong sized setscrew. Take your yo-yo to the hardware store and see what actually fits. Get someone to help you if you don’t know what you are doing.
