Anybody ever migrate their HDD to an SSD with a kit?
I have an older T440 Lenovo, and I am thinking of purchasing a Kingston 240 gb SSD to make things snappier.
I need the kit because I don’t have an enclosure to transfer the OS.
Any fans of the Lenovo T series,? They can tolerate some customization by amateurs.
Like the T450 even more, but will work with what I have.
The trackpad on the T440 is considered defective by the consensus, but they’re wrong.
The trackpad on the T440 is fine, and I came to the conclusion people don’t fully understand how it’s supposed to be used. You Tap, not click. It should be called a “tap pad” to stop the uninitiated from clicking. Also, your thumb is not involved.

I did it on my older Lenovo ideapad. It was insane the improvement.
1000% worth it. Also think about memory and to max that out as well.
Easy, cheap and fun.
I used a crucial drive.

I’ve done a laptop SSD upgrade as well. I had a windows install disk and used dropbox to back up anything important on the old drive, so I didn’t need to transfer files between the drives. The result was a profound improvement in the speed of the laptop.

I went with the Crucial as well and bought the cable for $9 with it. I didn’t realize Crucial provided the software to migrate the OS . Crucial MX 500 250gb. They have a BX series, (think that’s the model) a bit cheaper, but for a bit more, the MX is faster on all benchmarks.
I have 8gb now, but 4 is soldered. I am not sure if 12gb is going to make any difference if I swap a 4gb with an 8gb, but I know the SSD will.

It’s a lot faster now, and I used the crucial software to get it even speedier. While it was open, I maxed out the Ram. The speed increase is dramatic. Lenovo T series makes it fairly easy to customize. Macbooks are near impossible.
