# So, I made my first YoYo

Oh, I’ll go with the standard .180 gap that I see in all the specs.
But this leads to confusion for me.
I’ve been sitting here, for 20 minutes, looking at bearings.
[YYJ Bearings – YoYoExpert](http://shop.yoyoexpert.com/product/55/YYJ-Bearings) was linked earlier, pointing out some narrow bearings, for responsive play.
However, the spec on them is confusing.
I think it’s a typo, but I started googling, and the spec is called out the same way, on multiple sites.
It says it is a .125 x .500 x .187 bearing
While a “normal” C sized bearing is .250 x .500 x .187
On a C sized bearing, the .250 is the diameter of the inner race, the post the bearing sits on in the YoYo.
The .187 is the thickness.
It is this .187 that needs to change, NOT the .250…
I would need a .250 x .500 x .125 bearing to make it narrower, but still fit on the same YoYo.
Is this just a typo? Do they indeed fit? I’ll buy a few if they do.

I believe .500 and .187 are common in all size C bearings, wether narrow or regular.
I’m pretty sure the .250 and .125 are the measures of how wide the bearing is; in turn, determining the width of the yoyo

It’s definitely just a thinner bearing. It comes stock in yoyojams and is always replaced with a C

I took the bearing out of a Shutter today, and put it in my YoYo, and it is most definitely .250" Diameter, didn’t measure the width.
The standard for calling out bearing sizes is also inner diameter x outer diameter x width
The commonality should be the .250 and the .500’

You have it right: 0.25" is definitely the inner diameter, and 0.187" is the width. That leaves 0.5" being the outer diameter.
The half-width bearings… I’m not sure if they’re literally exactly half the width or just close, but yes, that 0.187" should be the part that is halved. Must be a typo or misunderstanding of some sort.

Changed the profile a bit.
The diameter will be much smaller in the response area now, and the opening will be wider.

Yeah. I tend to fixate on things, and move quick.
I completed 5 titanium YoYos so far. 3 revisions.
I also have one with a broken tap in it that might be salvageable.
It’ll work good as a prop in other pictures, even if it isn’t usable.
We’ll anodize it real cool first.
