I was wondering If there was an easy and inexpensive way to put a grinding finish on one of my yoyos that i’d be able to do myself.

satining works to an extent. just take some sandpaper and a drill. the lower the grit, the better it’ll grind generally. I like to use 80 grit, then 120, then 220. and if I’m going for a shinier finish that still sort of grinds, I’ll use 400 and 600 grit.

If you do this, go to the hardware store and get a screw with the same thread size as the axle. Make it long enough so that you can tighten it into the shell and have enough left to chuck it in the drill safely. Cut the head off so you fit it in the chuck. This will also protect your axle from damage.
