hey has anyone seen the shutter pivot yoyo? if not, just go to google and search up “shutter pivot yoyo” its essentially just a shutter yoyo but with a fingerspin cap like the DNA yoyo or the Arrow yoyo. If you’re like me, you have trouble fingerspinning on yoyos without finger spin dimples. Anyone out there in the yoyo community with the shutter pivot who can give me a review?

I think it was part of a 5A mystery box. It has also been referred to as the 5A shutter.

should i get it? it seems pretty solid. the shutter by itself is great, and it would seem better with a fingerspin cap. fingerspin caps give the yoyo centerweight, so i’m wondering if play is affected and if i should just get a normal shutter.

I personally would just get a normal shutter but what you want to get is up to you. The normal shutter would be much easier to find.

I guarantee this is just a worse playing shutter that is a bit easier to fingerspin with. YYF is basically just trying to hit as many marketing points as they can with this release.
I think in 2024 there are many better options than a Shutter anyways.

There are so many dozens of yo-yos know in that category that are all great, it really just comes down to what you like.
Will it be objectively be worse than the shutter in spin time and stability?
Maybe?
But will it perform just fine for whatever you want? Having played one myself, I can confidently say 100% yes.
If you like the way it looks/feels better than other $50 yo-yos, then the 5a shutter is absolutely the yo-yo for you.
It’s definitely a high performance yo-yo, and it’ll take whatever you throw at it just fine. What matters most is whatever you’d be most pleased with.

I haven’t played one, but I can heartily recommend the YYF Czech Point Pivot (Delrin version specifically). It’s my favorite monometal & comes at a similar price. Happy to answer questions if you’re interested in it.

The finger spin dimple is super small and the plastic caps are sticky. You’re better off getting pretty much any other finger spin yo-yo tbh
