What are your guy’s opinion of both for a new purchase? ---

I personally prefer horizon, but it is all about opinion. Horizon is heavier, and longer spinning, and bigger sized than shutter. If you are going for the Shutter, get the Shu-Ta, It is made of 7075 aluminum, and is much better than regular shutter
