After attempting several cutting methods and wasting… a _bunch_ of foam, I think I’ve got it down. I first tried a cookie cutter and mallet, then a hole saw, then a cut mini dr.pepper and braced it with a wooden cylinder and none of those methods really worked well. The can kinda did but the holes were too big. The way to go aside from buying a die-cut tool is using a small Tomato Paste can, cleaning the label and glue off, using a band saw or hack saw to cut the top ring off, then file the end to an edge. Doing this and gently turning it on the foam gets you perfect result every time. My wife had the good idea to make a template by folding some paper to give myself a grid, and then I traced around the can where I thought would make the most sense to maximize the layout, and cut out the circles. I followed the template on ea h side and well… ta da! They sit low enough in the foam to be protected, but I will lay a bandana between just to be safe. I also put a couple beneath the foam for a “bottom” and some more color. looks very clean! i’m wanting to do the same but am on the look out for the right case. haven’t had much luck at the local thrift stores or facebook marketplace yet ---

Looks good. People have used a hole saw with good results by running the drill in reverse. ---
