i know the on paper differences between these two, but what play differences does that amount to? ---

Reboot is zippier and more maneuverable! I like it more. ---

Rebirth is sludgier and slower, Reboot is faster and more agile but still keeps the delightful thunk. In many cases with OD I like the original and the boosted version both, but in this case the Reboot is just way better. Reboot is one of my very faves. ---

If you’re considering picking up Rebirth or Reboot, you may want to consider FRS P2 as part of the conversation. Too, it has an IRG if you like thumb grinds. I feel like it’s a bit more flexible than the other two. ---

can i get you to expand on the versatility comment? i dont mind the extra cost if warranted, just curious what brings it to the table for you. and fwiw I’m not huge into grids or fingerspins, so those things aren’t really design factors for me ---

To me P2 is closer to rebirth than reboot. Hefty and solid playing. Its a touch larger so maybe just a bit easier to hit some tricks with. ---

A while back I pitted Rebirth and Reboot against each other. Reboot went into cold storage. I agree with everything said about it so far, but my recollection is that I preferred the greater heft and slower pace of the Rebirth. But that is just between the two. Despite the thud, I don’t think Rebirth plays heavy or slow in the grander scheme. As far as the P2, are people talking about the original OD Project 2 or the recent Markmont FRS Project 2? (Edit: Larger + IRG eliminates the original). I only have the FRS P2. It feels more substantial, powerful and stable than the Rebirth. ---

i have all three and also prefer the rebirth (so much that i now have a second one in addition to my sunrise gate that i got during the pandemic). it’s thuddier and has that nice heft to it for being relatively small. i like the weight and that it’s not so focused on performance regarding the markmont project 2 – it’s very nice and all but i find it kind of silly that among the three of them, it’s the one with “project” in its name that lacks the projection profile grooves. i personally think it’s a defining trait of the project/rebirth/reboot line and the markmont project 2 kind of does a disservice to that ---

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner, but it looks like you got some great feedback. I think you’ll be very happy with the Reboot, as it’s become one of my favorites. P.S. While I prefer the Reboot, Rebirth with ULs has a cool feeling as well (reminds me a bit of Batsquatch, but with very different anno). As affordable as they are used, both are worth a try!
