# Random Piece of Yoyo History — (not)original patent

So my girlfriend got me this as a gift for my birthday, and I thought it was pretty cool. Though I thought that the term “yoyo” didn’t come around until the early 1900s so I had to look it up.  
I found an image of the original patent on a yoyo museum site and the header actually read “Haven and Hettrick Whirligig,” and not “Yoyo.” Another term that also used to be used was bandalore. It wasn’t until the 1920s when Pedro Flores came around that the term yoyo first started being used.  
(It may be a little tough to read, it’s still in plastic and the camera had trouble focusing)

Edit: I just realized the title may be slightly misleading - this isn’t the actual patent, just a (slightly inaccurate) print of the patent.

It looks janky but this page is an outstanding review of yo-yo history.
