Actually, the first to put a bearing in a yoyo was a Swiss(or maybe it was Swedish) bearing company. However, this yoyo didn’t work. Tom Kuhn was the first to make a bearing yoyo that actually worked.

Mostly the speed that the yoyo goes down the string on a throw, but its also generally a floaty yoyo is one if its more center weighted.
There is also a certain amount of it that depends on weight.

Tye first yoyos date back to the 1700s, but Pedro Flores srated a yoyo company in California in ??? 1930 ??? That was soon bought by Donald Duncan.

They actually date back a lot longer ago
In china, used back as weapons for knocking birds out of trees
