Sometimes if you search for something that you know is recent, but the top results are from ten years ago. Not sure if this is a setting, but if the search phrase is a direct match, then sort the results by date desc. If it’s a partial match, then fall back to “relevance”.

Just sort by latest after getting results.

> Yeah the bump thing is a weird one but @AndreBoulay definitely convinced me… it makes sense for people to have to come to the site and actively bump their topics to indicate they are still around, paying attention, and interested in selling their stuff… as @vegabomb noted you can edit the last post (assuming you posted the last post) to bump a topic as well. And I’ll admit I am kinda OCD like Vega, if I see a bunch of old "bump"s I will delete them to clean up the topic. bath Heck in the ini…

“Here’s a fun search trick I use a _lot_ : when searching, **add the letter l, by itself,** to indicate you want to see the most recent results first.”

Yeah, but wouldn’t everyone benefit from the newest posts being at the top by default?

I don’t think everyone’s search is always for the latest result but that is likely. Nevertheless, they have access to the sorting feature too.

Agreed, that’s what I do (and probably everyone else). Just suggesting an improvement. 🙂

It’s _often_ the case you want the newest posts first, but not always. It depends on the search…

So the “add an l” trick is a good one and I use it often.
