is this really a factor when yall buy yoyos? I’m j just curious because i see no small number of ppl mention a throws ability to fit it a pocket, but it seems like one of the less important factors in a yoyo. let’s just leave aside the fact that i have no idea what kind of pants yall are wearing that you can fit non slim yoyos anyway lol i wear pretty loose jeans and trying to put a yoyo in the pocket feels like trying to put a coke can in it. but there are like a zillion different holsters and cases, not to mention being able to just throw it in the pocket of a bookbag or laptop bag, etc.
tldr: when you’re buying a yoyo do you actually think about whether it will fit in a pocket?

Yes, this is why I prefer and play a lot of slimlines \< 40mm wide

I usually don’t keep yo-yos in my pockets, and if I do, it’s in a hoodie pocket so it’s not a huge deal how big it is.

Lol nah i use a basic yyf holster, but pants wise all mine are baggy like late 90s (not as poofy as the jncos but def can fit even an off string in the pockets)

Never. I work from home though and maybe if i was going to an office or something i would. Altho even when i did work at an office i would bring a bag…hmmm also its winter in my locale and i gotta wear a big jacket now so I have tons of extra pocket space for the season.

I’ve thought a lot about this question too. For me it’s impossible to carry a yoyo comfortably in my pants pockets. But I have found that size matters when putting a yoyo in a jacket or backpack pocket. Width matters more than diameter, but a smaller diameter is definitely better. A few millimeters really does make a difference for both pocketability and performance… but go too small and it’s unplayable. D-bearings also seem to give small throws a bit more oomph.
The sweet spot for me is around 42-50 mm diameter, and 30-38 mm width. Some of my favorite pocket throws include the Zeekio Vali, ti Fallen Angel, CLYW Ditch and Campfire, and OD Dingo 2. The Masamini is also great–you get a lot of performance but at the cost of a sort of brickish string-feel.

When I was an office rat yes but being remote not so much.
My collection is big enough also that I have a selection for whatever scenario I could be in

I do both! 🤪 - It is nice to have a smaller yo-yo that fits nicely in your pocket (usually in my winter jacket) but I do end up most of the time have a holder on the side that holds a bigger yoyo 🙂

I just started carrying a backpack 😆. There is usually like 6-10 yoyos in there.
I do have a lot if oicket size yoyos tho. Micros, minis, slimlines and even stuff like the Markmont Black Cannon for the challenge lol.

Pocketability is not a factor for me when I buy yoyos. However, I do always have a yoyo in my front left pocket. Usually it’s a Recess Snack, but this month I’ve got a Duncan Butterfly in there.

Embrace the wear and tear marks, straight into the pocket.
Lately its either a Panorama or a Dingo2
That said, if I have a bag then I’m not considering its size, probably reaching for a full size.

With hoodies and sweatpants, every yoyo is a pocket throw! Even the Orange!
I never think about yoyo size other than making sure it isn’t undersized because midsize is about as small as my preferences go. The End Pt 2 feels really small to me

I like slimlines, but carrying them in pockets is not part of the appeal for me. I almost never carry yo-yos around, though I might briefly drop one in a jacket/hoodie pocket if need be.

Certainly not a criteria for purchase. Frankly, I don’t care for a slimline. _ **BUT** _…I do keep a Black Cannon expressly for pocket carry. Having a yo-yo dangling from a belt loop, or a full size in a jacket pocket doesn’t work for me. **If** I remember/care to grab my go-bag there is a yo-yo attached. Real big “if” there. My hands dare not be idle.

Kinda both, when I started out yoyos were more slimline anyways (\<40mm) and I would just carry them around in a pocket to school or wherever. When I became an avid adult thrower and would bring them to my work place, keeping is somewhat discreet was also important, I even had an unresponsive Deep State set up. After a while just playing slimlines consistently, my plane management and smoothness became second nature. I have some wider yoyos like \>48mm that I play, but I have no desires for the Superwides \>54mm. When I’m out and about having something easy to get out of my front pocket, just makes it easier to throw when those short moments in time or a chance for a break allows for a few throws. I also felt like holsters would call attention to myself and just promote dings and make it hard to sit in certain chairs, slim is just simpler. Even if its just chores around the house I do the same thing. Most Mid-Size unresponsive also fit well in the pocket and I have my fair share of those as well. But if a manufacture makes a 57mm x 40mm x 63grams, I’m usually interested. The “Wide Trend” has really helped curtail my yoyo acquisition habit.
