What the title says! I defended my dissertation today and I kind of don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve been a bit absent from the forums and also everything else I enjoy because I’ve been, well, writing a dissertation. And going to conferences. And running a journal. And teaching. But it’s all winding down now, and I’m starting to feel normal again and that life has joy haha. I actually yo-yoed to prepare for my defense, just to get into a meditative place. No thoughts, only yoyo. Anyway, I’m thinking about picking up a yoyo to celebrate. I don’t have any One Drops or Caribou Lodges, so I’ve been looking at those. But the atmos Butterball is lookin pretty tasty too 🫣 ---

Congrats on the achievement! I also use yoyo-ing as a mental break if under a lot of mental stress or needed to fokus for a while. Just throwing and going into autopilot is is nice change of pace. If you spoil yourself with a new yoyo PLEASE let uns know what you got 🙂 ---

Thanks! Yeah my friend today said that Tom Kuhn called yoyoing a zen activity, and I was like yes. Feel that. And I certainly will show off whatever yoyo I get. It’s been a while (literally DECEMBER) since I got a new one, so uhhhh. I think this warrants a purchase. ---

Congratulations Amy! The toughest thing to a dissertation defense I have ever done, was spending 20 minutes answering questions about why sweet pickle relish doesn’t have any functional purpose in Deli Sandwiches. I, also was successful. Anyways….. what One Drops or Caribou Lodge yo-yos were you looking at? ---

Congrats Amy! I defended my PhD thesis in 2019 and yo-yoing played a big part in getting me through the grind. I got my first titanium (the TiVayder) to celebrate. Wishing you luck in transitioning to the next phase of your life/career - that transition was hard for me, so if it ends up also being hard for you, you’re not alone. First off, CONGRATS. I remember my days in higher ed, it felt like it took forever and I was glad when I finally passed all my licensing exams. What a pain that was!! Congratulations again, you should take a moment to celebrate yourself and this achievement! I personally love CLYW and One Drop. Anything you’re currently eyeing from either company? ---

Thanks! If I were on your committee I would argue in favor of sweet pickle relish in tuna salad sandwiches. I’m looking at a Caribou Lodge Otter… so close to hitting buy… Honestly, none of the One Drops have really caught my eye enough, but feel free to sway me. ---
